With the aggravation of economic globalization trend, as the trade port and transportation hub, ports played great role in the port logistics industry, the city economy, the regional economic and even national economic development. The advance of port handling capacity and the efficiency made the machinery toward large-scale, high speed and automation. The development and progress required higher safety requirement for the machinery.Port machinery were put forward high demand for the safety reliability because of the characteristics of high load movement space, big mobile range and heavy load quantity. Mechanical metal structure parts were the support skeleton, which bear own weight and external carrying cargo. It could result in the port crane fault easily. Higher requirement was proposed for the structure safety.The another important reason of port crane fault was due to the equipment operator violations the procedures, including not according to the provisions for routine inspection, maintenance, machinery walk, incorrect use of load moment limiter, hanging overweight cargo. Effective regulatory means were lacked for such kind of violating compasses operation. Partial equipment fault was caused by no giving warning timely and lacking operation data records. It was necessary to make research on safety monitoring system based on the operation process, in order to realize the early warning of the safe hidden trouble, fault display and safety operation state records and inquiring.This article made research on port crane safety monitoring system based on ZigBee and GPRS technology. The discussion content was part of the remote wireless intelligent monitoring. In order to monitor portal crane safety and ensure the safe operation of crane, the method of combining advanced remote GPRS wireless transmission technology and close ZigBee wireless sensor network technology were used.Multiple sensors were used to collect information in the system, the sensors were distributed on the crane.The metal structure strain, lifting weight, turning angle, lifting height, amplitude, power consumption, workload information, work time information and overload number information are collected by sensors. Through the mesh network of multiple ZigBee nodes, the data was sent to the ZigBee coordinator node. At the same time, the data protocol was transformed in the coordinator node. In the end, the data was sent to server through GPRS and Internet network. The original data from terminal GPRS DTU was received and phased by the server program. Meanwhile, the server programs would response to client request and interact with database. The client could observe and analyze the data real timely, also could send command to set the parameters of sensor node. This content of paper involved the fusion of the sensor technology, electronic circuit technology, the wireless communication technology, computer technology and testing technology.
