In 1982, UNESCO put forward a few suggestions that "We must allow young people to learn to survive in the world filled with kinds of images, words and voices". Nowadays, mass media has become an important component of the minors’ lives. More and more social concern is given to the impact of mass media. People have come to realize that the media literacy education not only help the minors to promote their physical and mental growth, but also help them to become modern citizens as the future nation-building and community needs. Thus, mass media literacy (media literacy) will increasingly become one of the core qualities of the modern citizens living in the era of information explosion.Media literacy is an extension of traditional literacy (listening, speaking, reading and writing), meaning a variety of ability to choose, to understand, to question, to evaluate and to response and thoughtfully, even including the creation and production capacity and the ability to use of media information for people personal lives and social development services, when people face with complex information that media provides. Therefore, the purpose of media literacy education is to enhance people’s media literacy, to teach people understand and interpret media messages correctly, help people more favorable access and rational use to media resources, and then gradually make people being equipped with the independent and self-critical ability. The ultimate aim of media literacy is to help people to promote their social and self-improvement, to take the initiative to use the media rather than by the media with the complex and diverse media environment.So far, the history of media literacy education research in China is no more than 10 years, on the contrary, the western countries have a history of more than 80 years. At present, media literacy education has become an independent discipline in the west, being equipped with full-time teachers, which continuity and integration characteristics are due to its educating ranges from primary schools, secondary schools to universities, even kindergartens. But a fairly slow pace of development presents in China, the particular discipline only set up in several universities, such as the Communication University of China. Some primary and middle schools are also actively exploring in Beijing, Shenzhen and other economy developed areas. However, our attention is not high overall.This thesis is main concerned with what inspirations China reading literacy and high school Chinese reading teaching can absorb from media literacy education. The first chapter and the second chapter discuss the development, current research status, theoretical proof and practice exploration of media literacy education in China and overseas, and its concept. The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the key points of this thesis, the author try to explore the connotations of reading literacy and reconstruction of Chinese reading literacy under the background of media literacy education, especially for high school students in China. With a view to practice, the fifth chapter mainly expands on the implementation of media literacy education in high school Chinese reading teaching in our country.
