With the globalization of media-literacy education and its increasing significant role in modern media society, media-literacy education has attracted much attention from the Chinese scholars, who have been devoted to studying and practicing media-literacy education since 1985. Despite its late research, they have made innumerable theoretical achievements, which consist of strategies and implementation, comparison and critique, local construction, survey and analysis, multi-perspective exploration and so on. But practically, media-literacy education hasn’t been popularized in china until now, though there are some experimental schools which set the media literacy course following the western pattern. There is still not a book about media literacy published and widely spread across the nation.When reviewing the research on Chinese media-literacy education, the author comes to find out that papers on Chinese media-literacy education can be found everywhere, in which it is widely believed that media-literacy education originated from western countries in 1930s, thus highlighting the western theories and researches on it. However, there is few literature approaching this problem from the perspective of the local Chinese history and culture.This thesis, however, is devoted to approaching the problem from the perspective of the local Chinese history and culture, diagnosing the problems of Chinese media-literacy education and constructing the media-literacy education with Chinese style based on the Chinese local theories. Then, what exactly is media-literacy education with Chinese style? From where does it originate? How to construct and develop modern media-literacy education with Chinese style? With these questions, this thesis, starting with the basic concepts of media-literacy education with Chinese style, tracking down the development history of media-literacy education in Chinese history and culture resources, reflecting on the problems of media-literacy education of china and constructing the feasible structure of media-literacy education with Chinese style. From the four aspects the thesis aims to sort out the past, present and future media-literacy education with Chinese characteristics.
