As a key technology of the new generation Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Electronic Toll Collection technology has been widely used in today's world. Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) protocol is one kind of proprietary wireless communication protocol that specifically applied to ETC fields.Series of national standards have been made to formulate the communication behavior between the Road-Side Unit(RSU) and the On-Bord Unit(OBU). These standards make different venders research and develop OBUs and RSUs independently. This paper studies the DSRC protocol hierarchy, focusing on the content of the data link layer, then makes a comparation between OSI reference model and DSRC protocol. On those basis, with consideration of both specific requirements of DSRC protocol and linux system characteristics, I made a complete scheme of DSRC.We chose the appropriate hardware platform and implement the software of data link layer by using C programming language.Detailed descriptions of functions and principles of sub-modules in the software are given in the following passages. We design the HDLC module by following the pipelined design principle, and implement it by using FPGA. Internal structure and principle of HDLC module can be seen in this paper too. In addition, the paper explains the principle of Abstract Syntax Notation language and how to use ASN.1 compiler in our project. It also records my realization of data segment and re-segment in application layer.
