We had done extensive researches on domestic related research institutes and modernized mine. In this paper, we used computer hardware and software technology, information acquisition and processing technology, wireless data transmission technology, network data communication technology, automatic control technology. We proposed an underground personnel positioning system design Based on wireless sensor network. The system is mainly used for underground and tunnel operations personnel location and tracking, for example mine. The system hardware consists of identification card, card reader sub-station and transmission sub-stations. The identification card is used to send the ID number of the carriers. The card reader sub-station is used to record the ID number and transmit the data to transmission sub-stations. The transmission sub-stations is used to spread the date to the control center. The system software provides to the user classification, filtering, searching and report generation functions. It records information, including identification card, user, reader sub-stations, transmission substations and the history of time and other details. The paperis organized as follows:1) we analyzed the IEEE802.15.4. Protocol and ZigBee protocol, grasped the characteristics of ZigBee technology and communications principles, studied Microchip's ZigBee protocol stack and implementation, and preliminary applied the protocol stack to achieve specific functions.2) According to the node cost and power requirements, with microprocessor and wireless transmission chip (including circuit is connected, the corresponding peripheral circuit design, PCB production, etc.) formed wireless sensor network, and did reducing power consumption research and testing.3) Sub-station hardware platform design; 4) system software development and testing, including identification cards, card readers sub-station and transmission sub-station of the software development and testing.This paper mainly solved in application of wireless communication technology for staff orientation, the position marked card short time, power consumption, as well as coverage of the wireless receiving sub-station a short distance and other issues improved the performance of wireless positioning system personnel.
