Coal is one of the most important resources and high-risk industry in our country, but inrecent years, frequent coal mine accidents resulted in huge losses for both human andeconomic. It’s difficult to manage underground person or get dynamic distributioninformation and operations information.Focus on a basic reform of coal mine, strengtheningintegrated automation and information system construction to ensure safe production andproduction management. In this case, underground personnel positioning system come intobeing.This paper studies the ZigBee network communication technology. By analyzing thecharacteristics of ZigBee technology and comparing with other wireless communicationtechnologies we obtained the advantages and feasibility of ZigBee technology in undergroundpersonnel positioning system. On this basis, the design take use of the development and helatest research of personnel positioning system, and CC2430/CC2431chip as the core andRSSI as location algorithm developed a research program of underground personnelpositioning system based on ZigBee. The network communication platform build with acombination of ZigBee wireless network and fiber optic Ethernet, can transmit location dataof underground personnel, equipment parameters and other information to monitoring center.The paper described in detail the hardware and software design of positioning system,including circuit and programming design of gateway nodes, reference nodes and positioningnodes based on ZigBee modules. Finally, the location data of underground personnel can bereal-time display on Z-Location monitoring software, therefore, the system achieve real-timepositioning and monitoring of underground personnel.Underground personnel position system based on ZigBee can complete real-timetracking of underground personnel, security scheduling, equipment management, can greatlyimprove coal safe production efficiency, management level, and also provides an important basis for the timely processing, post-mortem analysis and rescue work of coal mine accidents.After testing, the system is stable and high positioning accuracy, with good practical andpromotional value.
