| With the rapid development of modern information technology, the information environment of university archives has changed radically. The production, process and transmission of information in archives shows many kinds of patterns. The information requirements of different users including teachers, researchers, students and other social members become more and more individual and diversified. Traditional information service in university archives can't meet the needs of different users efficiently under this condition. This paper introduced the present situation of information service research, defined the contents of information service in universities and classified the service groups. Based on the questionnaire survey on the reality of information service in university archives, it summarized the current problems, analysed the reasons and supported detailed strategies from different perspectives. For example, individual information service is aimed for different user groups, integrated information service is aimed for user's requirements, socialized information service is aimed for students which is a special group. The archival information is one of the important information resources in one university. University archives should change the notion and pattern of information service utilizing modern information technology in order to meet the needs of different users and improve the information service standards to supply information infrastructure for university development. |
