As the development of the mobile communications,people grow the requirements on the technology of the mobile communications.Meanwhile the 3G is around the corner in China,which is becoming a hot topic,and more and more people and institutes are eager to be involved in the field.WCDMA is the most promising and mature thechnology among the Three Standards in 3G,which are known as WCDMA TDS-CDMA,WCDMA2000.WCDMA is already put in use in part of the world for commercial purpose.Furthermore it is the most likely that WCDMA will be networking with the TDS-CDMA,the China's own proprietary technology.Hence It's very important and meaningful to study the WCDMA technology in China.Network Planning is a very crucial step in constructing a communication network,normally the network planning is starting with the radio part,and then going to the core part,finally is the transmission network part.The core network is divided into two parts,PS and CS,PS stands for the Packet Switch, which is dealing with packet related service(IP),while the CS means the Circuit switch,which is based on pure circuit switch,ie.traditional voice related part.The network planning aims to make the network cost-efficient,and reduce the equipment unit as much as possible if the system performance and quality meet the requirements,the network planning is sustained process,we need to mornitor and optimize the network as the change of the network structure and radio environment.In the network planning,the most complex issue is that how to set up an efficient and accurate traffic model.How to use this model to make the network planning,during the process,there are many complicated and troublesome mathematical and arithmetic quation to consider,after continuous computation and iteration,finally the satisfactory and pratical plan is accomplished.In other words theres is no standard or perfect network plan,we may only achieve plan that is the relatively pratical and idea.Since the 3G has not been commercially launched in China.3G is quite new for the vedors and operators,my dissertation aims to come up with the algorithms and the traffic model,furthermore the detailed procedures and equations will be put forward based on the algorithm and traffic model.Actually,I come up with 2 traffic model,one for TCP traffic and the other for UDP traffic.These 2 traffics accounts for the 99%in all internet traffic volume,so it is enough to describe the traffic model in WCDMA PS part.Some queueing theory is referred in my dissteration to derive the formula and equation to calculate the system capacity.In the WCDMA PS part,the operators and even the vedors lack of the experiences of the network planning,and the operators in the western country where the 3G is already in use,focuse on the radio planning,there is very little documentation and technical information available and it's not dispensable part for core part planning,so the study on the network planning is very meaningful and practical for the upcoming 3G network in China.
