The Research And Practice Of The WCDMA Wireless Network Planning

The planning of wireless network is the guidance meaning to the Operation Business Network. A good planning can make a balance between the network coverage, capacity, quality and the costs. And also it can help the operation business make a best implementing scheme when constructing and updating the network, and finally get the maximal benefits in net-setting.The planning of WCDMA network mainly consists of coverage planning, capacity planning, interference analysis and scrambling code planning. The coverage of WCDMA system is related with system capacity and load status. The increase of load leads to decrease of system coverage, this is so called "soft" feature. In the WCDMA system the real coverage of a district is decided by the biggest permitted path loss between the mobile station and the Node B and the wireless environment of the target district. The biggest permitted path loss can be got by budget analysis of wireless link. Wireless environment is described by the propagation mode1.The paper takes the coverage, capacity and the scrambling code planning in WCDMA first phase project of China Unicom in Guangdong Jiangmen,and gets some of the important performance parameters through simulating the network planning, for example, pilot coverage, service coverage, overhead of soft handoff, pilot pollution and HSDPA Peak Rate. At the same time, the determination and settlement about disturbance is the key problem to make sure whether the WCDMA can coexist with other wireless systems, which is of great practical significance.Firstly, this paper introduced characteristics of the planning of wireless network and the key issues of the planning of the WCDMA wireless network.Secondly, it describe the process of the planning and service prediciton of WCDMA wireless network.Then, it paid more attention to the analysis of coverage and capacity plan, the analysis of disturbance and scrambling code planning in the WCMDA wireless network and made a discussion on them.Lastly, it made a summary on the WCMDA network planning, and promoted the items that should be studied further in the future.
