Product Data Management System In The Engine Business

With continues development of the research and application of advanced manufacturing technology, the construction of enterprise information has become the chief task of manufacturing industry. Product Data Management (PDM) is a technology based on information technology, focusing on product and integrating and managing all of the information and processes related to product. In last few years, PDM has gotten more and more extensive application and became an absolutely necessary tool for enterprises information with the swift development of computer technology. After the detailed research on PDM technology's concept, development and function, this thesis established the architecture of engine product data management system and realized PerkinsPDM system taking SmarTeam as the research platform and Perkins Engines (Tianjin) Co.,Ltd as applying background for enterprise.The main research contents are as follows:1. The thesis researched on the basic concept and the major function of PDM system, and analyzed the domestic and international research present situation and the develop tendency of PDM technology.2. Based on the detail research on the object oriented modeling technology of PDM system, the thesis researched on the modeling tool and process of SmarTeam.3. The thesis researched on the architecture and function model of engine product data management system, established the product data management model on SmarTeam platform, and realized the functions of product resource management, product structure management, document management, workflow management and user management.4. The thesis analyzed the principle of SmarTeam electronic storehouse and the relation between electronic storehouse and the document, researched on the technology of lifecycle management for document.5. After researching the integration technology of SmarTeam, the integration of SmarTeam with the software Office and CAD were realized.6. The thesis researched on the secondary development of SmarTeam, and developed the functions of engine product detail list management and syncretism list management based on SmarTeam using the program language VB6.0 and the API library provided by SmarTeam.Through the research on this system, the collaborative product developing environment has established. It was satisfactory that it raised the design efficiency of product, shortened the product development cycle, and guaranteed the accuracy and the consistency of product data in entire lifecycle for enterprise. The research has accumulated experience for enterprise implementing PDM system successfully.
