Product Data Management (PDM) is one of the rapidly developing technologies in software industry recently ,which manages all information and processes related with product during lifecycle. Product structure and configuration management is an important composing of PDM system, with responsibility for product data organization and management. To effectively manage and maintain these numerous and jumbled product data resources, a perfect product information model must be founded. In this thesis, on the basis of analysis of product structure and configuration management in PDM products domestically and abroad, a data model facing product lifecycle is put forward, which describes the evolvement of product data during product lifecycle by product model, complete product structure and product configuration. On the aspect of the problem of multiple Bill Of Materials (BOM), a multi-view manage model based on Single Source of Product Data (SSPD) is constructed, which insures the data coherence of multi-view. And then transform rules of multi-view were analyzed. Product configuration is the core of PDM system and one hotspot of the PDM research. Aiming at variable configuration, a method based on decision table technology is brought forward. This method can effectively manage configuration information and qualifications by utilizing decision table. It also provides a new way to realize product configuration and decision-making for configuration. Based on the data model facing product lifecycle in the thesis, utilizing CAD system as product data source, a product data management system based on Client/Server architecture was constructed, which primarily realized product data management, product structure management and design variance track in complicated product design.
