Aiming at the lack of standard parts library in the large 3D CAD software-SolidWorks, this paper proposes a method of establishing a standard parts library Withthe combination of the technology of OLE Automation,the methods of Object-Orientedand parametric feature-modeling are applied to build a standard parts library based-onlayouts of article characteristics, according to the General Specification for Preparing theGeometry Files of CAD Standard Parts. Bold and instructive research on the methods ofsecondary development on CAD software is carried on in this paper.Firstly,analyzing the characteristics of standard parts and giving the assemblyfeatures-based classification,the conceptual model and logical model are establishedgradually;then the database of standard parts' data based-on the layouts of articlecharacteristics is developed; at last, the shape mode library is established, using thefeature-modeling method provided by the software SolidWorks, who can completelyexpress the whole date of standard parts together with the database of standard parts'data.The automatic assembly of standard parts in assembly drawing is primarily research,and the naming rule of standard parts is proposed to meet the need of automatic assembly,and the function is carried out to some extent.The interactive input method of parts' data and the design method of interface areStudied, and the whole design data of parts can be described and input inextenso, exactlyUsing VB as the development tool and Access as the database, the anticipativefunctionality is almost achieved, and the results of example show that the design thoughtis correct,the interface is friendly, the operation is reliable and quick.
