The classical Chinese inherits several thousand years of Chinese traditional culture, it is very important in the field of Chinese teaching. The study of classical Chinese not only can let the students through one thousand years of time and space to feel the local conditions and customs of the ancient era of life, the humanities style, is more like a wisp of spring breeze, cultivates the students’thought, sentiment and moral accomplishment. But in Chinese teaching, the classical Chinese teaching has become a "haunt" of many teachers and students, the sense which teachers don’t want to teach and the students don’t want to learn become more and more common. Students say that they prefer to learn the text of Zhou Shuren rather than learn the classical Chinese, the jest reflects the problems in today’s Chinese teaching. In such an imbalance context of Chinese teaching, the classical Chinese is losing her own significance and value.In spare time, the author made a series of investigation and study on classical Chinese teaching in H middle school which located in Zibo city of Shan Dong province. Through the questionnaires of students and the interviews of teacher, we can understand students’learning and teachers’ writing about classical Chinese in this school. According to the survey, the author found there are some problems in the classical Chinese teaching of H middle school, and find out the causes of these problems, finally the author try to put forward some suggestions which how to improve the method of teaching classical Chinese in middle school.This paper is divided into four parts. The introduction part, the author briefly introduces that why the author choose this topic, elaborated the research significance and purpose of this paper. The second part introduces the development of classical Chinese teaching form ancient time to modern time, this part show readers the different distinguishing feature of classical Chinese teaching in the three periods of ancient, modern and contemporary, then the author introduces the value of classical Chinese teaching from the aspects of intellectual education, moral education and aesthetic education. The third part introduces the investigation and analysis of H middle school’s classical Chinese teaching, through the questionnaires of students and the interviews of teacher, found the problem in this school’s classical Chinese teaching, according to the survey data analyze reasons of these problems. The fourth part introduces some methods about improving classical Chinese teaching, the author put forward some improvement suggestions from four aspects of language sense teaching, dialogue teaching, game teaching and esthetic teaching. The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper, and expounds the research limitations and shortcoming.
