The novel detection technology of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) assay is known to ascertain the kinds of reactants as well as their concentrate and monitor interaction between molecular real time and without isolation and purification. SPR sensors are valuable analytical tools with abroad range of applications from laboratory assays to study for environmental pollutant monitoring, drug discovery and food safety, which have the feature of high sensitivity, label free, small amount of sample and rapid speed of detection. Study and development for an inexpensive, compact SPR detection instrument is very important.Based on the numerous researches works and analyzing for the background and principle of SPR technology and its developing trend, a kind of sensor system based on surface plasma resonance effect is presented in this paper in detail. The system is constructed based on virtual instrument and is made up of the hardware system and the software system. The sensor system uses a semiconductor laser as its light source, polarizer as its dispersive device, turntable as its angle adjustment device, linear charge coupled device as its detector and resonance angle as its metrical signal. The paper also designs and develops the software of the SPR detection system, including the firmware program which controls the hardware and completes the detection and the user application program with friendly interface to process and store data and the computer control system monitors the surface plasma resonance spectra change in real-time finally.The sensor system is used to detect glucose concentrations in our application experiment research and the paper analyzes and determines stability and resolution of the sensor system. Results show that the sensor system is stable and precise and it can reach a high resolution.
