Media literacy education theory has been put into practice in China since it was introduced in. However it has not been as systematic and maneuverable as that abroad. Just not saying blank in the primary and secondary schools, media literacy education is still in its very beginning in universities and colleges, difficult to improve itself. Seeing this problem, the author begin the study with the survey on the media literacy education practices in Henan province.The author conducted a survey with more than 950 students with a questionnaire and some talks in eight universities and colleges, including Henan Universities, Zhengzhou Universities, Henan Normal Universities, etc, getting some knowledge on the current situation of media literacy education in Henan province. The survey betrays that the students in Henan province have mastered a lot of basic knowledge on media literacy by self-taught, and can decide on the information from media. Anyhow, it is spontaneous and perceptual, without any systematic instruction. The students exercise such initiative, but the chance is insufficient. It turns out that they can't serve themselves sufficiently through the media. So, most students require the colleges to offer some necessary regular media education to enhance their media literacy.According to the current situation and the experience home and abroad, the author raises the"analysis—participation"model, with the associate knowledge on mass communication, pedagogy, psychology, and so on. By means of the platform of class, media, societies and self-taught, and adopting three estimation systems including class-estimation, self-estimation, and society-estimation, this theory commence from the ability of the college students to analyze media information and use media to achieve the purpose of media literacy education, and eventually culture phenomenon for this information times. The universities and colleges shoulder heavy responsibilities for media literacy education, to enhance the media literacy of the whole people. Media literacy education theories should be put into practices, and be studied further, to move this education a long term growth and development.
