Lack of quantitative indicators, managed by human and poor accuracy are traditional mining safety management features, along with the development of modernized production, gradually can not meet the production needs. ZigBee technology,which is rising star of short distance wireless communication, is used in this article to apply in realm of mine safety production, and the qualitative and quantitative assessment methods have been studied: various data collected by terminal sensor are send to gateway in the tunnel using the ZigBee technology, then send the data collected by gateway through the cable to the computer monitoring system on the ground. After the data are analyzed and compared, underground mine safety situation is evaluated by computer, effective management and thus can be made. Simple wearable network can be formed by ZigBee module and sensors, which is the basic idea of the system studied by this paper.There are two parts sensors: one part is responsible for environmental monitoring such as gas concentration monitoring, temperature monitoring, humidity monitoring, etc; another part is responsible for mine personnel positioning. After various signals are collected by sensors, they need to be converted from analog signals to digital signals, and then the converted digital signals are sent to the gateway devices on the wall in the mine tunnel by ZigBee transmitter module. There are gateways fixed in the mine roadway every few tens of meters. The gateways are connected with cables, used for ZigBee wireless signal reception. The received signals are sent to the ground computer by way of cable transmission. Parameters are set to build and start the process of the network by wireless gateway according to instructions from ground central control computer. For example, select the RF channel, a series of operating parameters, the only network identifier and format transmission from ZigBee wireless data to cable data.There is a 64-bit IEEE address in the terminal equipment carried by miners. You can also use 16-bit short address to reduce the size of the data packet. So the miner's identity can be determined as long as the terminal address is recorded. Miners'specific location can be detemined according to gateway's last record when the mining accident accurs, it provides a very important basis for the rescue operations. Tree touting is selected as the default choice of wireless transmission, that is tree structure is used to location as the routing strategy. Routing tree is selected for transmission, no routing Table is saved which occupy a large memory device. No need any additional air download to find the path, which makes the network traffic to a minimum. Device structure is simplified, costs and equipment power consumption is reduced. ZigBee devices have very low power consumption, which can let the transmit power be controlled within 1mW. Terminal system may work for 3 months to 1 year with only two ordinary AA batteries, which is very suiTable for used in large industrial and mining enterprises.
