With the development of economic, and progress of social, environment has been taken more and more attention, especially water pollution that has become the focal point of growing concern. In order to enhance the water environment management and monitoring work, it is necessary to establish automatic monitoring stations on water quality all over the country, so that we can monitor water quality information online. The system of water quality monitoring can do real-time monitoring well about the total nitrogen in water, and it is important to evaluate the states of the pollution, research the spread and the discipline of pollution.The development and mature of wireless communications technology make that more and more industries begin take wireless communication system as data transmission. The GPRS service released by CMCC has many advantages than any other, for example ,it can provide real-time online, charging by data flow and fast landing and so on, which make it own a greater advantage in small and medium-sized customers who build their own inter-regional data networks in a short period of time with a low cost. In addition, the embedded system based 32-bit ARM processor is a hot technology, it has a small size, low power consumption, higher frequency and so many peripherals, so it is being widely used in the fields of industrial control, wireless communication, network applications, consumptive electronic products, image processing, security, etc.This paper developed a wireless remote monitoring system for water quality using a current technology. The whole system consists of the portable signal collection terminals and a monitoring center. And the signal collection terminal consists of a water quality signal collection module, the module has functions such as the collection,filter and A/D transfer of the signals, and transfers the data to the monitoring center. In the center, the governors supervise the signals in real-time mode. In order to guarantee the correction of the signal during the transmission, we use the socket communication based on the TCP/IP protocol. The monitoring center has the function to display and save the signal, the governor can use it to find, delete, review and print the water quality signal conveniently. By repeat testing under laboratory condition, the water quality data acquisition performance is fine, data transmission function is stable and reliable, the display interface is direct-viewing, and the system is expected to achieve a satisfactory result.
