Computer I/O technology is of key importance in the development of high performance computing. The high-speed data rates of PCI Express system architecture make it a very broad prospect for development. On now, computer controls more and more electronic devices, PCI Express bus is defined a good choice in the area of high-speed data transmission. Therefore, the work is valuable on developing PCI Express bus driver.Based on the high-speed data transmission adapter of PCI Express bus developed by ourselves,we discuss the key issues, and give the resolutions of the developments of general PCI Express device driver, this paper places most importance on the analysis and explanations of device driver, hardware port and application programs. It also introduces an effective method of developing the device driver with command control, interrupt process and DMA function using WDF driver mode.At first, this dissertation researches PCI Express bus protocol based on comparing PCI and PCI Express and reveals the hardware framework in detail on FPGA technology and using the high-level design method. The dissertation is clued by the design and implementation of function module, and it expatiates on the subject of power manage, clock manage, DDR cache,PCI Express interface,fiber channel and QTE expand interface. Then, this dissertation researches the kernel architecture of the Windows OS and the way of developing a WDF driver. The framework and mechanism of WDF driver mode are introduced thoroughly. The method of high-speed data transmission adapter driver is presented from the objects of the initialization of driver program, IRP processing, interrupt respond, DMA operation and application interface. At last, the method and result of debug, install and test will be put forward according to characteristic of high-speed data transmission adapter.At present, the high-speed data transmission adapter and its driver based on PCI Express interface has been successfully used in the system for high-speed and large storage, and satisfies the need.
