With the arrival of information times, the application of embedded system becomes popular. According to the development situation of GPS navigation system at domestic and abroad, this paper puts forward a collectivity hardware and software platform which is based on ARM microprocessor and uClinux operation system.About hardware designing, the CPU is S3C44B0X of ARM microprocessor. Based on least system, it extends the LCD display circuit, touching screen input circuit as well as GPS module. The paper discusses the principle and realization of each module in detail, including the peripheral circuit of CPU( reset circuit, JTAG interface circuit and UART interface circuit), module of Flash circuit, module of SDRAM circuit, man-machine interface circuit(LCD display circuit and touching screen) and communication protocol of GPS module.Embedded Linux is used to the characteristics of hardware system. This paper introduces the transplant method of uClinux operation system and illuminates the design of Bootloader to the initializtion on the hardware understratum.The design method of high speed PCB is used in this hardware system. The paper discusses the analyse of signal integrity which should be noticed in design of high speed PCB. Based on analyse effect factors of signal integrity, it introduces how to solve transmission line effect(mainly including reflection and crosstalk of signal) and Electro-Magnetic Interference(EMI). The paper introduces the HyperLynx emluator which is used in design of high speed PCB and uses it to test the system(embedded GPS navigation hardware system). According to the result, this paper puts forward the method of weakening effect.From the viewpoint of application, the paper offers a new design idea for application of GPS navigation system on a large scale. By the design method, this system has many virtues which include high reliability, convenient application, excellent expansibility, inexpensive and so on.
