Along with the rapid development of science and technology in the 21st century, modern society increasingly becomes an information-based and Internet-based times. It makes embedded technology and related products to affect many aspects of people's lives. From consumer electronics to industrial control equipment, civilian products and military equipment, embedded technology has been widely applied. ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) is a leader in microprocessor Intellectual Property, The 32-Bits RISC (Reduced Instruction) ARM embedded processor core which is designed by ARM company has superior performance and lower price. Embedded Linux which has its open source code, can be trimmed and ported has been the rapidly developing of the operating system. Now, the embedded Linux have been applied to many areas, such as mobile multimedia devices, handheld devices, industrial controllers, automotive navigation equipments and so on.The purpose of this thesis is to develop an embedded platform based on the ARM9 processor and embedded Linux operating system, and to provide a hardware and software environment for embedded system development. In ord to achieve the goals, the main works are realized as followed:At first, it summarizes the embedded system hardware and software knowledge, especially focused on ARM processor family Samsung's S3C2410X chip which uses ARM9 core. After the detailed analysis and study of the function and the requirement, the total and detail design of this system is proposed.Secondly, the hardware schematic and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design are completed which use Cadence's Allegro SPB 15.2 EDA software, using high-speed PCB circuit design method for hardware design. The PI (Power Integrity) and SI (signal integrity) of this PCB have been analysized and simulated in detail, and the solutions to solve the problem about the PI and the SI have been given.Thirdly, ccording to hardware circuit, the task reduced and optimized the Embedded Linux operating system, includs Linux kernel and bootloard porting has been realized.
