With the development of video compressing, network communication and Large Scale Integrated circuit, the network video surveillance system which is composed of anolog system or video compressing card inserted in PC cannot satisfy the real-time need. Super Large-Scale Integration and embedded network video surverllance tenology gradually become the maistream of the new generation network video surveillance system. The key point of Embedded Network Video Surveillance System rests with how to compress and encode the video signal and how to transmit the compressed video signal. Video Capture and Compressing System Based on DSP (Digital Signal Processing) solves this problem well.Through the analysis and comparison of typical DSP chips of current market, TMS320DM642 produced by TI is selected to design and realize video capture and compressing system. According to its functional requirements, the key modules of the system are designed and realized, including audio and video A/D conversion module, enlarged storage module, network module and power supply module. Meanwhile, the chip selection method as well as the hardware design method is explained concretely.With the development of integrated circuit, the frequency is higher and higher. As a result, the transmission line effect and signal integrity problem of high speed circuit become more and more obvious. Video Capture and Compressing System Based on DSP belongs to high speed circuit.According to the requirements of signal integrity, uses Hyperlynx and IBIS (I/O Buffer Information Specification) modules to do the simulation. The PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design of video capture and compressing system is realized. The design method is explained concretely from the aspects of layer definition, position, layout and design of power/ground layer. At last, the design of bootloader and device driver is discussed to validate the correctness of hardware.It has been proved that Video Capture and Compressing System designed by TMS320DM642 has the characters of small volume, low power, high stability and high performance. It can satisfy the special needs of embedded video capture and compressing system perfectly.
