The Secondary Surveillance Radar uses the method that the sensors send the interrogation signals to the targets in the air and the transpoders of the targets send the reply signals back to identify the targets. Compared with the Primary Radar, The Secondary Surveillance Radar using the Monopulse Technology can measure the range and the azimuth of the targets more accurately. But the traditional Mode A/C has the shortcomings such as serious garble. So Mode S has been paid more and more attentions. Modes has the advantages such as huge plane codes, huge information containing ability, easy to process data, strong ability of de-garble, so it is been used by more and more countries. Meanwhile, the conventional rotating antennas limit the process ability and capacity of the system, while using the wide-beam antennas can raise the capacity of the system. The Array Signal Process technoledges can solve the problem of serious garble the wide-beam antennas take. This paper first introduces the applications of the Array Signal Process technoledges in the base band video signal processing of Mode S, analysis's the algorithms and gives the simulation results. Then this paper gives the detail of the base band video signal process system of the Secondary Surveillance Radar, including its system framework, hardware and software parts. At last this paper introduces the testing and verification of the base band video signal process system of the Secondary Surveillance Radar. In this project, the author has done the research on the algorithms and simulation of the application of Array Signal Process on the Mode S, and is responsibility of designing the PCB and the DSP software.
