The main focus of this paper is to design a general-purposed embedded video digital signal processor. Aimed at the general-purposed nature to different kinds of algorithms of this system, network architecture of parallel-processing multi-processors is studied, and the bottleneck problem of the system common bus is solved, thus establishing a detailed project of the system. To achieve the stability of the system, the Signal Integrity problem in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is studied as its theoretical background, and the design rules of the high-speed circuit PCB are summarized, which have been applied in actual systems, and thus achieving good effects.The key to the effectiveness of the system depends on the reasonable network architecture of parallel-processing multi-processors. In the first part of this paper, different kinds of usual network architecture of parallel-processing multi-processors are studied. Based on ADSP-21160 serial digital signal processors from AD Company, close-coupled flexible hardware network architecture is selected as the network architecture of the system, because of which the hardware logical architecture of the system can be recomposed on line according to the acquirement of different algorithms. Thus, the resource of the system can be used effectively without causing bottlenecks of the system bus, maximizing the efficiency of the algorithms. In addition, the expansion mode, communication interface with other systems, program boot mode and debug interface are introduced, and several standard operating modes and specifications of the system are also presented in this part.For high stability of the system, with the realization of hardware of the system, the second part of this paper starts from the transmission line theory, and studies the signal integrity problem of high-speed circuit system in light current. The causes of these signal integrity problems, such as signal delay, reflection, crosstalk, ground bounce noises and etc. are analyzed in theory. Combined with actual design, key points of design and standard design flow of general high-speed, high-precision printed circuit board are summarized, which has been applied in actual system, and good effect has been achieved.
