Injection mould is a process equipment for manufacturing plastic parts precisely and efficiently. It has been widely used in light industry, electric works, automobile industry, aero-space industry etc. Since a set of mould has complex structures and contains lots of components, it is a great challenge to mould designers and makers. To improve design efficiency and mould quality, it's very important to design with the help of CAD system. The article analyses the structures of injection moulds, and discusses the key technologies for developing assembly-oriented standard parts in mould CAD system. Then associative design is introduced, and it's used to establish the model of standard parts. It implements the Typical Component and Standard Part Library, and is integrated into mould CAD system. The library is open. Users can easily extend or modify the content of it. It is also modular, and the design knowledge of standard parts is embedded into the mould CAD system effectively. Standard parts can also be loaded in array, which is commonly used in the design of mould with multi-cavity. After analyzing the mounting of standard parts, the author develops arithmetic to create the mounting hole of the standard parts on mould base, which can extremely accelerate the process of mould design. The author also studies the application of project property in mould CAD system. Several different descriptions for specific type of part are designed based on the property mechanism of UG. It enables automatic information transmission during the process of design.Based on the above research, the author develops a Typical Component and Standard Part Library for injection moulds in UG NX. It has put into use effectively.
