Cage is an important part of hub bearing, which is difficult to ensure its dimensional accuracy. The function of cage in the hub bearing is to separate the roller equally, and lead the roller to move regularly, which will achieve the equal distribution of internal load in hub bearing, and eventually ensure the smoothly run of hub bearing. Engineering plastics have been widely applied for its low density, low friction coefficient, high wear resistance, high shock resistance, and good self-lubricating property.The cage in China made from engineering plastics is usually shaped by injection mould. Because of its complex structure, heavy workload during mould design, and the low degree of standardization of mold design, the quality of cage is uneven. Established on the platform of UG via CAD technology, this paper has completed the tasks including part modeling, analytical calculation, data store and etc, during the design of the cage injection mould, aiming at realizing the computer aided design of injection mould. I wish all of these would help to improve the efficiency and quality of mould design as well as make a contribution to the localization and standardization of hub bearing manufacturing.The mould part required can be molded in a quick and convenient way with the support of VC++6.0, using UG/Open secondary development tools. The three-dimensional entity model was completed by parametric modeling method. A database which includes national standard and industry standards were established via Microsoft Access2007, with the use of the MFC ODBC technology which made a connection between database and UG/Open API. On the purpose of practical use and based on the injection mold design principle and method, an injection mould CAD system is completed, which is simple to use and has a relatively intact structure. Injection mould CAD system for the cage of hub bearing is composed of six modules, which includes the parametric design of cage, the choose and check of injection molding machine and the parametric design of the other part of injection mould in total of eighteen sub-modules.The users can update and modify the database at any time based on the enterprise standard in this CAD system. A modified average method was adopted in the conversion from plastics part to molding part in the module of the parametric design of molding part, which made the system running memory greatly reduced and the running time significantly shortened.Users would rapidly obtain the cage part and a group of relevant main parts of injection mould through man-machine dialogue on the condition that the hub bearing type was given, which would make the designer out of the heavy and repetitive work, and improve the working condition of designers.
