With the continuous development of plastic mould technology, the series degree of moulding products has been improved. For the designs of these isomorphic products which have similar structures and varied dimensions, if one-to-one design principle is adopted, the designs will result in a great deal of homologous designs and repeated work. For this reason,the author applies KBE(Knowledge-based Engineering)technology into plastic mould design for small plastic injection moulds,and developed a special CAD system.The following issues are studied and addressed in this thesis:The KBE is researched ,and the principle of CBR,RBR is analysed. KBE (Knowledge- based Engineering) technology is appliced into the design system of small plastic injection mold.The overall architecture of the system and the functional modules of the system have been established. At the same time ,the data management,the data transfer mechanism and the data flow in the system and knowledge base are researched.The main modules of the system,such as project initialization module,product arrangement module parting module,ejecting module, as well as the key issues for their programming and implementation were presented. Among them, the correlation mechanism between the modules and the knowledge data base are essential to the system.At last,the application example of the system was introduced .And the results indicate that the system is reliable and efficient.
