A Research Of The Collections Characteristic Construction In College Libraries In Fujian

The collections characteristic construction of libraries is a trend in the era of information. It is a useful method for libraries to show their ponderance and improve their competitive power. University library, on the one hand, is a better-developed type of library in China and it has many advantages on developing characteristic collections, such as the capability of collection, technology, scientific research, and so on. On the other hand, it also has many specialties on developing characteristic collection construction know from other types of libraries. In a word, University library characteristic collections construction is worth to be studied.This thesis chose the university libraries in Fujian province as its research object, and analyzed their general situation of collection constructions with the methods of surveying, interviewing, analyzing. Based on the theories of the necessity, principles and objectives of construction, this paper pointed out that the university libraries of Fujian should develop their main and characteristic collections harmoniously. The strategy of developing characteristic collections construction in university libraries in Fujian was advanced after assimilating the experiences from other successful university libraries.
