The communication industry in China is making a rapid progress at the era of reform and opening-up. The influence and the function of media are increased with each passing day. So the ethical problems that caused by media are especially conspicuous. A vulgar tendency of media, payoff journalism, false reporting and harmful advertisement have became four public nuisance of Chinese communication industry. They are all slashed severely.This thesis introduced the research background and current research situation of Chinese media vulgarization in the first place. Next the author expounded the notion of media vulgarization. Media vulgarization is the result that the media cater to the audience vulgar interest and pursue economy benefit. It marked by excessively pursues some news value factor such as humanity and interest, attract the audience with sensational means, sense organ stimulates and deception. The author points out the media vulgarization concrete performance of different media, and reveals that media vulgarization is harm to Chinese communication industry and society. Media vulgarization weakens the media sense of responsibility and credibility, harms audience right to know, corrupts social conduct and affects teen-agers growing up. The emphasis of the thesis is to analysis the different causes and essential of Chinese media vulgarization. This article analyses different causes of Chinese media vulgarization from communicator, the audience, the external environment three aspects, identifying the nature of media vulgarization from the angle of sociology and cultural. Under certain historical background and social environment, the market economy development brings keen competition, since management surveillance flaw and media person occupational ethics degeneration, the media cater to the audience psychology lead to media vulgarization. The essence of media vulgarization is news occupational ethics violating and mass culture dissimilation. Finally the thesis investigates how to resist media vulgarization. The author learning from other countries and related to our reality so that provides a method to resist media vulgarization by means of ethic construction, media education and social supervision. The author hopes the methods can resist media vulgarization, so that our communication industry will develop healthily.
