Electrical Timer And Control System (ETACS) is a module of automobile bodywork control system. The quality and performance of this module affect directly the safety of driving . During design and production,its various parameters must be tested. In this article, we develop an automatic testing system of ETACS based on studying the new development of domestic and international technologies and combining present situation of it.According to system requirement analysis, we design and implement this system in the structure of PC(Personal Computer)and MC(MicroController). PC and MC communicate by RS-232 protocol. PC, an ordinary computer, is primarily interactive with users. Users send test command to MC by using PC software, then PC waits to receive test data which is uploading from MC, after receiving data, PC software analyses the receiving data and presents it on its user interface. MC is a MCU(MicroControl Unit)application system. It is primarily interactive with ETACS product. When MC receives a test command, it analyses the test command and then tests the ETACS module according to specific procedure, after test finished, it returns the acquisition data to PC.This testing system is designed according to computer aided technology and virtual instruments technology.,so it has good flexibility and development space. This system can accomplish quality testing as follows: Firstly, this new testing system can test simultaneously the control functional parameter of forward and back lights, hazard lamp, front fog lamp and right fog lamp and so on. Secondly, this testing system can not only test the normal voltage of power, but also accomplish reversed polarity testing and higher or lower voltage testing. Thirdly, it can accomplish the single step testing, multi-step testing and an automatic testing and display the wrong information so that the workers may serve the product. The main work of this article includes: Firstly, implement the hardware circuit design of the system according to the system's design scheme. Secondly, implement the PC software design using VB6.0.The actual operation of the automatic testing system of ETACS shows that every technology target of testing system may fulfill the requirement of the system and it has a good effect. the automatic testing system has the good reliability and the stability,and has provided the very good reference for the similar module test system design, so it has the very good practical applicationvalue.
