With the rapid development of graphics hardware’s computing power andLCD(Liquid Crystal Display) technology, it is possible for the automotiveinstrument to display with full-screen LCD. Some of the automobilemanufacturers have launched kinds of LCD products to the market. In this trend,LCD technology for graphical display based on QNX operating system is studiedin this dissertation.This paper proposes a display solution for the given LCD hardware based onQNX Graphics Framework (GF) and OpenGL ES2.0graphics standard. Thesolution divides the graphs into static graphs and dynamic graphs, and displayseach type according to its layer. The static background of instrument panel isuploaded and rendered as an image by introducing IMG library in GF platform,while the dynamic ones mainly including virtual indicators and icons group aredisplayed in different ways. Specifically, the geometrical model of analogindicators are created by3dsMax software as OBJ models and the indicators’dynamic motion are realized by coordinate transformation. What’s more, itsperformance and real-time tracking effect on screen are tested with sinusoidalsignals. The texture mapping technique of OpenGL ES2.0is used to draw theicons group, and the specified icons are projected to the corresponding locationsof the screen.Additionally, this paper gives a solution by modifying projection matrix forgraphics deformation problem. In order to eliminate the phenomenon of contourjaggies, the hardware anti-aliasing function is enabled by configuring themultiple sampling parameter of EGL. By using the advanced rendering techniques in OpenGL ES2.0, such as illumination and mixture, this paper hasachieved two special effects: the translucence indicators and dynamic highlightof instrument panel’s background with the indicator’s position. With the abovework, an enhanced visual effect of LCD displaying is presented.
