The significance of the research is that it can meet the expectations of IC design tide, which is the best team can offer not only the best SOC but also the best reference system design based on the SOC. Offering high quality reference design can improve the IC design capability and strengthen the potential competition.The main research is the low cost application system design based on the Garfield chip——a SoC designed by the ASIC center of South East University. A pocket terminal unit is selected. It can share informantion with other system through the USB,the UART or the IrDA. The MP3 can be played and data can be stored in the MultiMediaCard.Contrasted the former test system and other application system, the pocket terminal unit is carefully designed. Every sub-system of it is especially taken into account, aborative designed and carefully tested. After the characteristics of the Garfield and the AC97,MMC Specification have been analyzed,high quality drivers are designed and the boot loader is especially expatiated. Meanwhile, the Signal Integrity is very important in the system design. The principles of avoiding signal distortion are put forward after the characteristics of the former application system have been analyzed. As a result, the cost of system itself is reduced but the qulity and the performance is not declined. The ASIX OS can run 75 MHz and it's only cost 450RMB.According to the application and the market demands, the structure of the SOC is defined,designed,tested,modified and the performance of the SOC is perfected.Thus, the design flow is formed, which can accelerate the speed of the system of SOC design as well as all the IC design.
