The 21st century has arrived, with science and technology and intelligent technology development, the people to the life, live, work and so on various aspects environment level of the intelligent demand is higher and higher, also appeared more and more intelligent residential district. The actual demand as the industry promotes the automatic meter reading system technology and application of continuous development and innovation, a new kind of both reliable, and the economy and convenient installation way of demand meter imminent, ZigBee is also in this historical conditions was born. Obviously, ZigBee technology compared to other technology has great advantage, performance for: high speed of data transmission, low power consumption, network capacity, delay is short, the cost is low;Network self-organizing self-healing capability is strong, communication and reliable; Data using AES 128 encryption algorithm security; - Flexible, and they are all working band for license (free) band segment.On the basis of current meter, by joining with the RF modules ZigBee agreement, the design gives a set of has wireless data transmission characteristics of the remote automatic meter reading system. This system mainly used in residential district, through its within the building all users of electric meter instruments data acquisition cable sent to ZigBee network node, then ZigBee wireless way through transferred via cable tuner, finally way transmission data to PC, thesis mainly describes the meter reading system ZigBee network construction of the system hardware design and that the realization of software platform, describes from two aspects of hardware and software to transfer data to control center meter in the process.The letter divides into five sections: the first chapter is paper summarized, first from paper topic selection basis, research theory and practical significance about, then describes the research situation and development trend, finally outstanding tells the meter automatic wireless theme; for the meter reading. The second chapter basically studied ZigBee ZigBee technologies, including technical characteristics, ZigBee protocol stack, ZigBee network topology structure, ZigBee data transmission mechanism, ZigBee routing algorithms, finally through and other wireless transmission technology is more outstanding its advantage. The third chapter presents the study of wireless meter reading system architecture, the system's hardware design. The fourth chapter discusses ZigBee wireless meter reading system based on the software design process, and the design of test node.
