Research On The ZigBee Wireless Meter Reading System

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) nodes to communicate with each other must have the appropriate wireless network protocol, the traditional wireless protocol is difficult to adapt to the demand of wireless sensor,such as low-cost,low-power,,high-fault-tolerance,and so on.In this case ZigBee protocol came into being. ZigBee is a new short-range,low-complexity,low-rate,low-power,low-cost wireless network technology, mainly used for short distance wireless connection. It is based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee protocol standards, which communication is implemented in thousands of tiny sensors. These sensors only need very little energy, they transmit data by the way of radio waves from one sensor to another, the communication efficiency is very high.At present, in China ZigBee mainly used in coal mining system, relatively,little used in meter reading system, based on above background, this paper bring forward the routing algorithm and composing network which are based on ZigBee metering reading system. Article studied the basic principles about ZigBee technology, and in-depth analysised of the physical layer,MAC layer,network layer and application layer protocol,and descripted the network robustness detailly.It gived the wireless automatic meter reading system block diagram and the main hardware selection, and further pointed out advantage that the ZigBee wireless technology for meter reading system, and introduced the network topology. At the same time, it analysised several typical routing protocol of wireless sensor networks, by discussing feasibility problems and improving exploration about some traditional network routing algorithms,for the application of ZigBee standard in meter reading system,and designed the network routing algorithm which was used in automatic meter reading system. Descripted how ZigBee network setting up,network nodes joining,leaving and other functions by primitive, and implemented peer-to-peer communication between modules in mesh network by testing. Practices showed that, as the principle implementation of the early stage of practical application system, this system provided a novel system development platform for wireless ZigBee network research.
