In this century, the most realistic and pressing development direction of microelectronics is the changes from integrated circuit (IC) to the integrated system (IS).The problem of chip area increasing, connecting complexity increasing, the areas and delay of interconnection wires augmenting, and parasitic effects arose by interconnection wires will be created with chip performance improving. The multi-valued logic circuits have very strong advantages at increasing the signal amount taken in the signal wires, which provide an effective approach for solving the Problems brought by the increase of the interconnection wires in the ICs. However, the present multi-valued logic circuits used binary components, its circuit structures are more complex and higher power consumption compared with the same class binary circuits. So it is still worth to study multi-valued circuit structure. Based on the researching of theory of multi-valued logic, from the basic performance and the basic circuit, this paper proposes better design structures of voltage-mode multi- valued logic circuit. The detailed contents are shown as follows.1,Designed of voltage-mode ternary FPT circuits based on the multi-valued switching-signal theory. FPT structure is the traditional structure of switching-level design, and it means that the circuits are composed of three branchs which divided by transmission source 0, 1, 2. Using switching-signal theory as the guide, this paper deduced the switch-lrvel expression of the FPT structure of circuits, designed the circuits.2,Designed of voltage-mode ternary DPT circuits based on the multi-valued switching-signal theory. DPT structure using complementary signal, changed-power transmission principle, which is designed based on standard CMOS technology without having to modify the threshold voltage. Using switching-signal theory as the guide, this paper deduced the switch-lrvel expression of simple gate circuit, and used DPT structure to design the circuits.3,Designed of voltage-mode ternary CPT circuits based on the multi-valued switching-signal theory. CPT logic use complementary signal, changed-power transmission principle, dual-track differential structure. The circuit structure is rules, and with better robustness and driving capability. Therefore the paper introduces its structure into multi-valued logic circuits design, using switching-signal theory as the guide, designing ternary circuits with a certain function.Finally, the design were simulated by PSPICE with TSMC 0.25μm CMOS technology parameters, and the analysis shows that the circuits that designed by multi-valued switching-signal theory have correct logic function, and the circuits is more flexible, and its structure have great simplify. The multi-valued switching-signal theory can easily be extended to a higher base multi-valued logic circuit design.
