While the information industry keeps progressing with the rapid development of integrated circuit speedexceeding Moore’s Law, size and power consumption has become the key factor limiting further development ofIC due to the continuous improvement of its integration and complexity. Compared with binary circuits, multi-valued logic circuits have the advantage of higher information density, which provides an effective way to reducechip interconnector and area. Adopting adiabatic technology and domino circuit, adiabatic domino circuits have thecharacteristics of low power consumption and simple structure. Based on the research of adiabatic domino circuitsand multi-valued logic circuits, a design scheme of ternary adiabatic domino sequential circuits is proposed. Thisscheme adopts multi-valued logic to acheve the goal of higher information density and adiabatic technology torealize the target of low power design. This paper will be expanded as follows.1、Switch-signal theory and design of ternary adiabatic domino operation circuit: Research on the switch-signal theory deeply, design the ternary adiabatic domino literal circuit and ternary adiabatic domino T-operatorcircuit based on the switch-signal theory and literal operation. These laid the foundation of further ternary circuitdesign.2、Design of ternary adiabatic domino flip-flop: by analyzing binary flip-flop, researching the workingprinciple and structure of ternary flip-flop, the ternary adiabatic domino state-setted flip-flop, ternary adiabaticdomino JKL flip-flop and ternaty adiabatic Domino T flip-flop are realized combining with the adiabatic dominologic.3、Design of ternary adiabatic domino shift register: Through the analysis of binary shift register, accordingto the domino circuit design method, the ternary adiabatic domino D flip-flop with the reset port is designed, then,combining with the ternary adiabatic domino T-operation circuit, ternary adiabatic domino shift register is achievedfurther.4、Design of ternary adiabatic domino reversible counter: by studying ternary counter, introducing energyrecovery technology and domino circuit design method, the ternary adiabatic domino circuit with reset port and setport, positive and negative circulation circuit and carry borrow circuit are designed. Finally, ternary adiabaticdomino reversible counter is achieved.The designed circuits are simulated by HSPICE to verify that these circuits have correct logic function.Compared to the traditional ternary domino circuit with the DC power supply, the presented circuits have the lowpower consumption characteristic obviously.
