The continuous wave radar has been in service for decades, despite it has been upgraded several times, but compared with the new radar, it has some shortcomings in some aspects, such as system testing, human-computer interaction, training and use, etc. The author introduces simulation technologies to the continuous wave radar system, and uses the simulation technology to test system, train operators, and improve system reliability and adaptability.The author puts forward a continuous wave radar target simulator hardware and software design plan. Firstly, using computer control technology and integrated circuit technology, the target simulator hardware is designed and implemented, which includes the DDS signal source, the data interface circuit module. Secondly, using C+ +language, the simulator system software is designed, which includes four modules, namely, network communication module, task simulation module, data processing module and device interaction module. Lastly, the functional test of the simulator and the system software are accomplished, and the reasonable results are obtained.The test results indicate that the simulator is credible and stable. The parameters tested are accordant with the practical situation, and the simulator has been successfully applied to a continuous wave radar system.
