Research On User Education Of Academic Libraries Under The Network Environment

With the advent of Internet, network becomes one of important information sources and channels. It provides academic libraries with abundant information resources, as well as new information services. At the same time, network is changing learning environment. And teaching and learning environment is expanding beyond traditional classroom. Web-based learning has become an effective learning model for people. All of the changes request academic libraries to reform their user educatioa The informatization Society requires people to persist in learning in all their life. And this demands that all the people possess well information literacy. Academic libraries should catch hold of this opportunity to reform their user education, and change the aim of user education from how to using library to advancing user's information literacy. This dissertation focuses on researching user education of academic libraries under the network environment.Firstly, this dissertation introduces the concept of user education and its development And discusses the necessity and characteristic of academic library's user education under network environment. Secondly, it recommends the advanced experiences and practices in the academic libraries of the United States of America, as well as the United Kingdom and Australian. Thirdly, this dissertation discusses the development of academic library's user education in our country. It analyses the existing problems in present in our academic library's user education, and brings forward some methods to resolve them. In the last part, it put forward author's imagination about the development of academic library's user education under the network environment.
