[Objective] In order to explore the different prevalence and affecting factors of sensory integration dysfunction among school-age children between the urban area and the rural area. The implications of these results are discussed for preventive interventions.[Methods] 1153 children aged 8-13 years from primary schools were investigated with sensory integrative scale, Rutter children's behavior questionnaire by parents, children loneliness scale and the environmental factors inquiry.[Results] The total incidence rate of children sensory integration dysfunction was 26.89%. The rates of mild and serve SID were 21.08% and 5.81 % respectively. There was no significantly differences between the urban areaand the rural area (x~2 = 1.654, P=0.437). The total rates of boy was 31.58%, and that of girl was 22.30%. The former was obviously higher than the later (x~2 = 12.628, P<0.001).
