Research And Application Of Product Data Management System For Concurrent Product Development

Based on the architecture of PDMS (Product Data Management System) for CPD (Concurrent Product Development), the paper explores the relationship of CE and PDMS, the mode of PDMS-based CPD, the function frame and architecture of web-based PDMS, the connotation of CPC (Collaborative Product Commercial), the architecture and key-tech of Windchill solution. Some suggestions and methods are put forward. The SmarTeam-based PDMS for steering system is put into practice. This research has obtained the following innovative results.1 . The paper indicates that the web-based PDMS is a key-tech to successfully carry into execution CE and successfully actualize normative communication of product data in concurrent product development processes, and further describes the modes of PDMS-based CPD.2. On the basis of studying PDMS system and its key-tech, a CORBA & Web-based PDMS architecture is provided, and relevant integrated frame is further improved. The author gives some guiding principles and procedures for their application to enterprises.3. The theory of PM (Project Management) is introduced into the process management of CPD. The author explains some particular measures for the implement of PM in PDMS.4. The relationship of CPD (Collaborative Product Development) and PDM is discussed from aspects of the innovation of PDM conception, the extension of PDMS function, and the improvement of PDMS' architecture. It is finally indicated that CPC is the goal for the development of PDM and manufacturing enterprises aiming informationalization.5. Some problems in the informationalization of manufacturing enterprises in our country are pointed out and practical measures for the solution are put forward.6. The successful implement of SmarTeam-based PDMS to CPD of automobile steering system provides an efficient, reliable, normative data-sharing environment for the CPD of Steering system.
