With the worldwide competition and the improvement of customers?requirements, the speed of product updating become more and more fast, which put forward more high requirements to enterprises in product development, how to develop product with low cost and short lead time and high quality is the key to enhance enterprises? competition. So, it is necessary for enterprises to reform the traditional product development process and implement Concurrent Engineering (CE) in order to realize product development concurrently. The premise of the realization of product concurrent development is to research the process of product development, at present, this field is lack of systematic research, so this paper firstly extracts and describes the main elements of process (Activity, Method, Information, Object) and six entities (Activity, Person, Resource, Object, Project, Team) of concurrent product development process theoretically, then establishes the relation model of this elements with object-oriented (00) technique, which provides the theoretical foundation to the research and analysis of product development process. The main purpose of CE is how to realize information sharing, up to now, this research is limited in certain fields and does not reach the degree of theory and the whole abstract. According to this, the paper puts forward creatively the concept of Product Information Master Model (P1MM). The model consists of the whole information of product, which is regarded as the kernel of the united research object of all product development process, this model is not only the information resource of all development processes but also the information host. this paper establishes the framework of P1MM from 4 aspects of product: function, structure, theory and manufacturing, then product concurrent development process is extracted to be two entities: P1MM and process model (PM), which provides reliable premise that can implement product development process correctly and efficiently. Product concurrent development is actually the optimization of projects processes, which may activate the downstream phase after the upstream phase has developed to a certain optimum point to realize the concurrent execution of phases to shorten lead time. Unfortunately, Researches on this aspect are now still only staying on theoretical stages, especially on the research of solution of methodology algorithm modeling determining the activation time T0, of which the main cause is that there are so many relevant complex and uncertain elements imposing impacts on product development processes. The paper gives a creative discussion on this aspect, firstly importing the concept of info entropy to present the algorithm of determining the activation time T0 of downstream phase dynamically based on info entropy and Bezier-curve cooperated with the multi-layer comprehensive decision making principle of fuzzy algorithm. At the same time, a method is designed to solve the algorithm modeling. According to the practice, this paper put forward a set of assumptions that how to apply the modeling practically. The implementation of concurrent engineering could not be taken without the backup of the technology of Product Data Management(PDM). According to different applications of PDM used in enterprises, PDM system can generally be divided into two classes: department PDM system and enterprise PDM system.
