Network Collaborative Product Data Management System In The Product Development Environment

The rapid development of information technology brings new opportunities and challenges to manufacturing enterprises. Facing this new competition, modern enterprises ally into virtual enterprises; carry out allied concurrent engineering in order to respond rapidly to the market. In a virtual enterprise, products are developed under the web-based cooperative development environment.This paper emphasizes on setting up a web-based, distributed product data management system, which can support cooperative product development.Based on the introduction of the structure and characteristic of a cooperative product development environment and the analysis on the special requirements of this environment to the PDM system, the architecture of a PDM system in the cooperative product development environment, in which each of the functional modules is realized as a service component, is set up hi this paper. Then three of the components, the product structure and configuration management service module, the product document management service module and the workflow management service module, are analyzed in detail. Their inner object structure is set up as well. Finally the realization and application of a PDM system founded according to the idea motioned above is introduced.
