Research On The International Competitiveness Of China’s Chip Manufacturing Industry

The trade friction between China and the United States and the chip technology blockade initiated by the United States have made chip manufacturing a hot topic in recent years.Concepts like “3nm process”,“Lithography machine”,“Containment” and so on are widely known.However,there is a lack of comprehensive and systematic research on macro-issues such as the origin,development process,comprehensive strength and importance of China’s chip manufacturing industry.There is also a lack of detailed comparison and analysis of its international competitiveness.Therefore,this paper makes a detailed analysis of the international competitiveness of China’s chip manufacturing industry.Firstly,by studying the global chip manufacturing industry,this paper discusses the industry chain positioning,the history of development,the global status quo,the competitive pattern,especially points out the market position of Chinese Taiwan enterprises and American enterprises.Secondly,this paper analyzes the history and status quo of China’s chip manufacturing industry,by listing the development timeline,memorabilia,industry data,reflecting the actual strength.Thirdly,this paper uses the Michael Porter Diamond Model to analyze the chip manufacturing industry in China.It discusses capital,manpower,equipment and technology in detail and studies the market demand by analyzing downstream industries and the overall demand of China’s market.Fourth,it takes SMIC and TSMC as examples to analyze the specific companies.It compares the companies by the DEA-Malmquist analysis.This paper finds out the problems from the companies,digs into the reasons,evaluates their competitiveness,summarizes the enterprise experience,and extends the enterprise experience to the entire industry,finally concludes the suggestion to promote the Chinese chip manufacturing industry.At the industry level,technical problems should be solved and the supply chain should be by strengthened by establishing national technology incubation organizations,looking for international allies and developing industrial clusters.At the corporate level,development strategies must be clarified and long-term stability as well as resilience to risk must be ensured by paralleling production capacity and technology,cooperating with chip design companies,cultivating talents with schools,improving compliance system.In addition,talent should be both brought in and retained by optimizing the system,expanding the scope of talents and providing long-term stable treatment.
