| How to further develop reading promotion is one of the issues that modern public libraries are still exploring,among which the study of management issues is an important area to promote the sustainable development of reading promotion.Reading promotion is different from traditional business management,the original organizational management structure can no longer effectively improve the management efficiency,hence need to timely change the management model to better complete the deepening of reading promotion.Nowadays,many public libraries have set up special departments or positions for corresponding management in order to better carry out reading promotion,and various management modes different from traditional organizational structure have been formed in the process of institutional setting,but there are fewer studies on the organizational structure based on reading promotion.In this context,this paper explores the existing organizational structure of reading promotion based on the study of the organizational structure of reading promotion,and aims to consider how to improve the overall service level of public libraries from the organizational structure level.In order to investigate the organizational structure of reading promotion,this study needs to first investigate the current organizational structure of public libraries based on the background of reading promotion development.By conducting a research on the organizational structure of public libraries on a macro level,this study clarify the changes in the organizational structure of public libraries from the formation of organizational structure,reform and then the period of reading promotion,including the number of departments or positions,department names and responsibilities,and reading promotion departments.Finally,this study explores the influence of reading promotion on organizational structure with contingency theory,and concludes that the current management structure of public libraries is mainly mechanical,but under the influence of reading promotion,there has been a move toward organic organization,and a different division of labor and collaboration model of reading promotion has emerged from the macro organizational structure.Then,according to the above survey,the study summarizes the organizational structure models of reading promotion,including “Library director-led” “Coordinating department”,“Business department”,“Cross-departmental teams” and“Departmentless”.The study also analyzes the differences in the organization structure of reading promotion,the contents include the main leader,the organization of responsibility and participation,the internal management and the innovation.Through comparative analysis,it can be summarized that "Coordinating department" and "Cross-departmental teams" are more flexible.In order to understand the actual work of reading promotion,the study conducted an empirical study on the organizational structure of reading promotion,including the collaboration and division of labor,the organization of activities,the difficulties of activities and the evaluation of the existing organizational structure.During the fieldwork of eight first-class public libraries in Shanghai and Guangdong Province,this study obtained the evaluation of librarians through interviews.Then,based on the interview results and combined with the theory of weighted variables,the study conducted a questionnaire survey on the organizational structure of reading promotion.The questionnaire was divided into three parts: basic information,management organization and Likert scale.The Likert scale questions included four parts:organizational structure,management environment,responsibility and participation,and innovation,aiming to obtain the satisfaction degree or agreement degree of librarians.In conclusion,the participating librarians rated the current organizational structure of reading promotion highly.Based on the contingency theory,this paper puts forward some strategies to optimize the organizational structure of reading promotion.First,it defines the management objectives and development strategies of reading promotion strategically.The second is to pay attention to the development needs of librarians in skills.The third is to make full use of new technology to improve management measures in the environment.The fourth is to simplify the cumbersome management system in the scale of service and to take a variety of ways to carry out reading promotion activities in different situations. |
