Research On The Service Model Of Subject Librarians In American University Librarie

The explosive growth of information increases the difficulties for researchers in selecting academic resources that are professional,precise and of high quality.It is an important measure to help researchers improve their quality of scientific research that subject librarians provide professional and subject services.In order to understand the development current situation of subject librarians and service modes in American university libraries,this paper selects 15 research libraries in American universities as research objects.Using research methods such as the network survey and the literature survey and basing on the understanding of the concepts and contents of The Classification of Instructional Programs,subject librarians and service modes of subject librarians,this paper studies the specific types of subject librarian service modes in American university libraries from different perspectives.Through the statistics and analysis of the basic information of subject librarians and the basic construction information of service subject in American university libraries,it can be found that American university libraries attach great importance to the construction of subject librarians,and subject librarians in the library generally provide services around multiple specific disciplines.But there are also great differences in different aspects of the construction of subject librarians in different universities.In addition,through the study of the three service modes,it can be found that the service development of subject librarians in American university libraries has obvious characteristics of specificity,differentiation,synergy and specialization.But at the same time,there are also problems such as large service span and unbalanced ability.Based on the above investigation and research,it is also concluded that the service development of Chinese subject librarians should conform to the actual construction of their respective libraries and pay attention to the development of cooperative relations.
