A Study On The Impact Of Import Complexity Of Producer Services On The International Competitiveness Of ICT Industry

As the Internet and big data technologies progressing,new breakthroughs in cloud computing,internet of things,5G and other digital technologies continue to be made.The information and communication technology(ICT)industry has become an important material and technological basis for cultivating new economic dynamics,creating new industries and new business models,and seizing the high ground of the new round of international competitiveness.China’s ICT industry is developing rapidly and on a large scale,but its technological value is not high.In this context,it is an important research to improve the quality of ICT products and services by taking advantage of the injection of advanced production factors-producer services import and the advanced knowledge,technology and other elements they contain,so as to promote the international competitiveness of the ICT industry.This paper aims to study the impact of import complexity of producer services on the international competitiveness of ICT industry from three aspects:influence mechanism,present situation and measurement analysis,and empirical analysis of cross-country panel data.Firstly,on the basis of combing domestic and foreign researches,the influence mechanism of import complexity of producer services on the international competitiveness of ICT industry is discussed in depth from three perspectives of technological innovation,human capital accumulation and industrial structure upgrading.Secondly,analyzing the present condition of the two and the measurement of relevant indicators were conducted.Finally,the fixed-effects model and mediating-effects model are used to empirically test the impact of import complexity of producer services on the international competitiveness of ICT industry and the impact path.The findings of this paper are as follows: first,the complexity of producer services imports can significantly enhance the international competitiveness of a country’s ICT industry.Second,the import complexity of producer services can have an enhancing effect on the international competitiveness of ICT industry through three mechanisms: improving technological innovation capability,promoting human capital accumulation and accelerating industrial structure upgrading.Third,the import complexity of producer services has a greater promotion effect on the international competitiveness of ICT industry in developed countries than in developing countries.Computer and information service,other business service,financial service,patent and licensing service,and insurance service import complexity all have significant positive effect on the international competitiveness of ICT industry,among which computer and information service,financial service import complexity have stronger promotion effect.Transportation service import complexity has no statistically significant effect on the international competitiveness of ICT industry.Finally,based on the research findings,this paper puts forward several suggestions to enhance the international competitiveness of ICT industry.First,optimize and adjust the import structure of producer services.Second,encourage technological innovation and accelerate the training of high-end talents.Third,strengthen intellectual property protection and improve the management of related systems.Fourth,accelerate the development of innovative core basic industries and promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure.
