Frame Analysis Of Disaster Reports In Mainstream Media In China

Under the background of turbulent world situation,changeable social environment and frequent risks and disasters,mainstream media,as the mouthpiece of society and the control valve of public opinion,is particularly important to report disasters actively and objectively,which can play a role in stabilizing social order and promoting social development.Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and Henan rainstorm in 2021 are two typical disaster events,which are far apart in time.It is of great significance to study the ideas and characteristics embodied in its reporting process for further exploring the guiding ways of public opinion in mainstream media and improving the level of disaster news reporting.This paper takes some reports of Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and Henan rainstorm in 2021 as research objects.And based on Zang Guoren’s three-level framework theory,this paper analyzes the theme,genre and style of high-level report,the content attribute of middle-level report and the title attribute of low-level report.Moreover,this paper tries to explain the news framework characteristics of People’s Daily’s disaster report,analyzes its internal factors and causes,explores the concept core of mainstream media in the practice of disaster report,and the new collision with the media development environment driven by media convergence.The study found that the People’s Daily reports on these two disaster events,at the high-level,the theme presents concentrated topics and diverse angles.The genre is mainly news,supplemented by various genres.The reporting method pays attention to the characteristics of writing depiction and polishing.At the middle-level,it shows the characteristics of emphasizing results and influencing reports.At the low-level,it has the characteristics of integrating emotion with reason and pointing out information by using digital symbols.Based on policy guidance and continuous improvement of self-reporting ability,the People’s Daily’s reporting system for disaster events has gradually matured,adhering to tradition and grasping the pulse of the times,can keep the news rational.On the premise of abiding by media ethics,constantly improve the ability of guiding public opinion,strengthen the sense of responsibility,deeply understand and grasp the psychological experience of the audience in reading reports,emphasize the audience standard and the awareness of rights.By adjusting the proportion and bias of reporting,in order to meet the diversified needs of readers for reporting content,it has formed a relatively fixed framework feature of disaster news reporting.While continuing the sense of responsibility and information,the proportion of reporting content is reasonably coordinated,and the reporting system is becoming more and more complete,which shows the powerful leading and revealing role of public opinion guidance and news propaganda of mainstream media in China.As a social tool,news media plays an important role in guiding public opinion.Facing the increasingly complex and diverse social environment in the future,the media need to make a more active response when encountering sudden disasters.Especially People’s Daily,as the leader of mainstream media,needs to constantly consolidate and enhance its political awareness and social responsibility while undertaking the responsibility of information release and public opinion guidance,so as to better complete the task of disaster news reporting.
