A Study On The 'People's Daily' Wenchuan Earthquake Report

5.12 Wenchuan earthquake has caused tremendous property damage and men casualties, so that the entire country shrouded in grief, but it did not cause social panic, and the media coverage of the earthquake information timely and full disclosure is a very important reason. Television,radio,newspapers and networks carried out a large-scale earthquake,omni-directional coverage, and the crisis is basically the realization of the timeliness of information, authenticity, guidance, etc,not only meeting the public's right to know but also effectively guiding the public opinion.As a central party newspaper, "People's Daily" response to the disater is rather quick. The relevant information about the earthquake was shown the next day, then following continuous coverage, tracking reports, which has shown a sense of social responsibility and newspaper style. In order to further examine the "People Daily" how to show the picture of the earthquake in the report, the article intends to select the newspaper as a sample and the newspaper report of the earthquake as a research unit, using the framework of analysis and content analysis system for all-round study. The article reports, mainly from the amount of content, reporting methods, sources of information, language style, etc, sorted out the perspective of analysis in details,with a view to highlight News philosophy and news value orientation refracted from the report.In this paper, the first chapter with the main task is to explain the crisis and some concepts related to the crisis. The second chapter is to study the statistical analysis of samples, to show the basic picture of the earthquake in the "People's Daily" reports. ChapterⅢis to draw the conclutions based on a sample of the main statistical analysis . The conclusion part is the enlightenment which obtains from the research.
