As an important channel to acquire knowledge and broaden horizons, reading not only embodies the connotation of individual spirit, but also the embodiment of a country's cultural soft power. However, with the development of information society, fragmented reading has become the main reading mode of contemporary undergraduates, and immersive reading is becoming more and more scarce and valuable. With the advent of the era of joint reading, the university library,as the vital reading position for college students,is increasingly promoting joint reading activities in order to guide college students to read deeply and improve their reading efficiency. In this paper, the structured interview method is used to conduct in-depth interviews with the administrators and students of M University Library to obtain the first-hand materials.Nvivo 12 plus is used to make a qualitative analysis of the interview text.On the basis of induction and sorting,it is coded and analyzed from the four aspects of "overall emotion","activity purpose","activity effect" and "deficiency".From the coding results,it is found that the joint reading activity is not only the benefical evidence of the educational function of the university library, but also a strong explanation of the law that every book has its readers. The analysis also found that there are some problems and difficulties existing in the joint reading activities of M University, such as simplex form and subject, lack of perfect evaluation mechanism, lack of financial support, lack of professional quality of librarians and insufficient attentions of leaders. For this, paper puts forward optimization strategies such as optimizing the form and subject of activities, improving the evaluation mechanism, broadening the source of funds, improving the professional quality of librarians and obtaining the attention of leaders in multiple ways.
