A Study On The Reading Activities Of Sinan Reading Club From The Perspective Of A Ritual View Of Communication

Today under the banner of the promotion of nationwide reading,various forms of reading activities continue to emerge.Among them,the reading activities of the book club represented by the Sinan Reading Club have occupied an important position in the practice of reading promotion.Participating in book club reading activities has become the choice of many readers nowadays,and collective social reading has become an important way of reading in addition to individualized silent reading.The ritual metaphors contained in reading gradually appear in the reading activities of the book club.That is,reading is no longer limited to the behavior of individual readers to obtain knowledge and information from paper books,but evolves into rituals among readers to build consensus and share beliefs.This article takes the Sinan Reading Club,a typical example in the practice of reading promotion,as the research object,and examines it from the theoretical perspective of a Ritual View of Communication,and uses research methods such as participatory observation and interview to analyze how the reading ceremony of the reading club is constructed.It mainly starts from two aspects,that is,how the authority of knowledge leads the construction of the ceremony and how the readers participate in the practice of the ritual order.Some specific issues involving the power relationship between the host and the participants in the reading ceremony,the psychological situation of the participants during the ceremony,and the establishment and dissemination of the meaning of ceremony are resolved.The deep connotation of reading as a ritual is explored out through excavating the unique ritual features contained in the literary reading ritual and revealing the internal logic and laws of the ritual construction.On one hand,this research attempts to provide new perspectives and opinions for re-understanding the essence and significance of current reading.And on the other hand,probably it also could provide some new ideas for the practice of reading promotion in publishing and book industries.
