A Study On Reading Difference Between Different Reading Medium

Reading is not only a vital way for mankind to know and understand the world,but also an important part to the human civilization.Since the naissance of character,the definition of reading has been changed from comprehensive specific way to know the world to abstract understanding on character.With the popularization of printing,human being' main reading behavior is paper reading.The development and application of Internet and digital technology have changed reading behavior again,and reading's definition is turned from abstract understanding on character to specific understanding on image,sound and video.Under this background,it is worthwhile to think about and study reading medium's influence on reading behaviorThe reform on reading behavior has been brought by digital information technology and network communication technology.With large-capacity,convenience,immediacy and entertainment,digital reading has quickly attracted a myriad of people Digital reading with so many advantages has greatly propelled the cultural popularization,but in the meantime,it also has some disadvantages.For instance,fragmentation reading existing in digital reading affects cognitive structures of reading and effect of long-term memory;shallow reading which requires less cognition appears everywhere;cultural consumption and cultural entertainment tend to be on the rise Digital reading differs from traditional reading based on printing medium in many aspects,such as carrier,reading time and place,text structure and so on.But such comparison should be used to further understand the difference between two reading methods in the whole reading process.A whole reading contains code selection,encoding,storage and memory,which is a process of shaping cognition.Perception,thinking,memory,imagination and language need to be shaped by cooperative work from human brain and body.This text focuses on studying the influence that different reading medium has on cognitive effect during the reading process based on reading understanding of brain and reading feeling of bodyThis text contains five parts.The first chapter includes literature review,research problem and research method;the second chapter compares the difference between two reading methods of three parts of reading behavior;the third chapter discusses the increase on cognition burden in reading under the new media environment from the perspective of brain reading;the forth chapter compares the difference in physical sensation and reading effects between two reading methods from the perspective of embodied cognition and philosophy theories;the five chapter includes summary and outlook.
